Comparative, Multidisciplinary, and Practical Perspectives

The Journal of Religion, Theology, and Educational Research is an international, peer-reviewed platform dedicated to publishing a wide range of scholarly work that explores the intersections of religion, theology, and education across diverse cultural, religious, and pedagogical contexts. The journal advances research that is both theoretically rigorous and practically grounded, with particular emphasis on comparative and multidisciplinary approaches. It seeks to promote critical and constructive engagement between theological inquiry and educational research, addressing questions of theory, policy, and practice in response to, and beyond, the complex challenges of contemporary plural societies.

Aims and Scope

We invite contributions of international significance, including studies that:

  • Apply comparative, multidisciplinary, and practical theological perspectives to educational theory, curriculum development, teacher education, leadership, policy, or pedagogical practice across diverse contexts of children’s, adolescent, and adult learning.

  • Examine interreligious, intercultural, and dialogical learning models in formal, non-formal, and informal educational environments, with attention to pedagogies of encounter and mutual transformation.

  • Engage critically with the ethical, spiritual, and socio-political dimensions of learning across religious, secular, and worldview differences.

  • Explore the role of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, digital platforms, and other educational innovations, in theological inquiry, interreligious education, and broader pedagogical practice.

  • Contribute to global and trans-cultural conversations on worldview, religion, theology, and education through innovative methodologies, underrepresented epistemologies, or alternative knowledge traditions.

  • Address transformative learning in relation to emerging global challenges, including climate change, migration, peacebuilding, social justice, and sustainability.

The journal promotes equality, diversity, and representation in academic publishing, encouraging submissions from varied epistemologies and cultural perspectives. Articles that challenge established paradigms, introduce alternative and constructive approaches to educational research, or engage deeply with non-dominant knowledge traditions are of particular interest. Manuscripts may present empirical research, theoretical or conceptual analyses, critical literature reviews (with clearly articulated and systematic selection methods), case studies, narrative inquiries, evaluations, or mixed-methods studies. Both qualitative and quantitative methodologies are welcome, and the journal encourages collaborative work by international teams of scholars. Although studies may be situated in a single cultural or national context, all submissions must engage with broader theoretical debates and demonstrate relevance to an international readership.
